“The Shack’s Best Shuckin’ NYE Party Ever” was an outstanding success! Over 250 people attended our very first NYE Party on Thursday, December 31 to ring in 2016. The party was held in the joyfully decorated Neptune Room and guests enjoyed fantastic food, drinks and music.
The party began with a reception oyster bar where the Seafood Shack’s Chef Gerard and his team were shucking fresh Gulf Coast oysters on the half shell. This was followed by a delicious buffet that included a prime rib carving station, blackened fresh local catch and our “almost-famous” harvest chicken which is served in a tasty maple-pecan butter sauce.
Revelers took full advantage of the complimentary photo area manned by Sarasota professional photographer Mark Sickles, posing with fun and festive props to announce the New Year!
Into the evening, a handsome body-painted King Neptune and his beautiful mermaid joined the celebration, posing for photos with the merrymakers.
Of course The Billy Rice Band ruled the room, playing into the early morning hours, and even instigated a surprise wedding proposal where he stopped mid-way through a song and handed the microphone over to a man on the crowded dance floor so he could confess his love (…she said yes).
The champagne midnight toast was counted down by Seafood Shack’s very own Jed Lippincott and Mr. Billy Rice himself. After midnight, guests fortified themselves with scrumptious breakfast burritos before heading home after a long and memorable evening dancing the night away. Thank you to everyone who made this night magical. We hope everyone has a spectacular 2016!
P.S: The party isn’t over! We’re excited to announce that The Billy Rice Band will be playing every Thursday night in The Neptune Room. If you’ve been looking for a great place to chill on thirsty Thursday with some energetic live music, we’ve got the perfect place. There will be a $5 cover charge and seating is first-come, first served. A cash bar and delicious light bite menu are available. See you there!
